How to uninstall Megacubo
Remove the application through the route that matches how you installed it: on Windows, in Settings > Apps; on Linux, the format you chose — and the project publishes the uninstaller of the script installation; on macOS, the Trash; on Android and TV boxes, the launcher. The uninstaller of the Windows build also removes the settings folder and the firewall rules that the application added.
To install it, or to reinstall it later, the way in is the guides tree.
Step by step
- Close the application — the main window and the miniplayer: an uninstaller cannot replace a file that is in use.
- Remove it the way you installed it — the table below gives the route of each platform and of each Linux format.
- Decide about the settings folder — playlists and settings live in the user data folder and go away with the removal; copy the address of your M3U list, or the file you use, if you are coming back.
- Keep the licence key — the Premium licence is lifetime and is not cancelled by uninstalling; the key from your purchase activates the next installation.
Steps checked on 2026-09-25 in the uninstall directives of the Windows installer of the project and in the uninstaller published for the script installation (uninstall.sh). The installation formats are the ones of the Linux guide.
Where each removal lives
| How you installed it | How to remove it | What goes with it |
|---|---|---|
| Windows — official installer | Settings > Apps > installed apps > Megacubo > Uninstall (or Programs and Features in the Control Panel) | The program folder, the shortcuts, the user settings folder and the firewall rules the application added |
| Linux — AppImage | Delete the file | Nothing else: an AppImage is a single file, and the rest is the data folder below |
| Linux — Snap or Flatpak | The removal command of your package manager, with the name the manager shows | The package itself; the user data folder belongs to the application, not to the package |
| Linux — official script | curl -fsSL https://megacubo.tv/uninstall.sh | bash | The folders the script created — data, configuration, cache and /opt/megacubo — and the menu entries |
| macOS | Drag the application from Applications to the Trash | The application bundle; the system may keep a copy in the Trash until you empty it |
| Android and TV boxes | Press and hold the icon and choose uninstall, or Settings > Apps > Megacubo > Uninstall | The application and its local data, including playlists and favourites |
What is not removed
- Bright VPN — the SDK's own product is separate from the application and the uninstaller never removes it: it has its own uninstaller, among your installed programs
- The Premium licence — it belongs to the purchase, not to the installation, and uninstalling does not cancel it
- What you saved yourself — playlist files, recordings and downloads that are outside the application folders stay where you put them
Frequently asked questions
Does uninstalling cancel the Premium licence?
No. The licence is lifetime and belongs to the purchase, not to the installation: the key you received activates the application again, on the same computer, whenever you reinstall it.
Does uninstalling remove my playlists?
Yes, on Windows and on Android the local data goes with the application, and on Linux the script uninstaller removes the folders it created, including configuration and cache. Keep the address of the M3U list or the file itself if you intend to reinstall.
How do I uninstall the version installed by the script on Linux?
With the uninstaller the project publishes on the same domain as the installer: curl -fsSL https://megacubo.tv/uninstall.sh | bash. It removes the application folders, the configuration, the cache and the menu entries that the script created.
